[First published as On Claiming a Piece of the Blogosphere on November 15, 2007.]

I wrote the following on November 15, 2007:

See Results for “watson library”.

I am the only person in the last two months to blog about a “Watson Library.”

I am now the first person ever to blog about being the first person to blog about my writing a blog about a “Watson Library.”

Though this may make your head spin for a bit, when it comes to rest please do consider the following:

The OLPC and the XO laptop comprise a blank canvas that is global in scale. It gives you a fresh way to look at almost anything related to computers or education and is thus a wellspring of innovation. For example, who will be the first to take an XO to the top of the Eiffel Tower, or to the top of Mount Everest.?

Who will be the first person to teach a Nobel prize winner how to program using an XO?

There is a whole generation of children waiting to be taught how to build our future. They include the brightest young minds on this planet.

We just need to find them, and teach them.

Or we can let them find us…
